Then and Now...
The Saline Cooperative Preschool was created in 1957 by 15 local
families who wanted to provide a low-cost preschool experience for their children.
More than 45 years later, the Co-op continues to offer a top notch educational program for
preschoolers, while providing parents the opportunity to learn and grow with their
children.
A non-profit, non-sectarian organization licensed by the Family
Independence Agency and affiliated with the Michigan Council of Cooperative Nursery
Schools, the Saline Cooperative is governed and operated on a democratic, cooperative
basis by the member-parents who meet at mandatory membership meetings.
Meetings and activities are coordinated by a Governing Board made up
of elected officers from within the membership. |

Four Sessions
For your convenience, the school offers both morning and afternoon
sessions (9:00-11:30 am and 12:30-3:00 pm). Three-year olds attend a two-day a week
program, Tuesday and Thursday (16 children per class), and four-year olds attend a
three-day a week program, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (20 children per class). The
Co-op adheres to the calendar of the Saline Area School District. |
Philosophy
Valuing the family as a unit, as well as the individuality and worth
of each of its members, clearly defines the Co-op's philosophy and practical approach to
preschool education. |
